Name Domain Pro

When people look to build a web site they really need to sit down and think about the domain name they want - and have lots of back up names when they find out that the domain name that they want is not available.

A good domain name is important because it can give you a head start in organic search engine rankings.  For example, if your domain name is www.thebestscams.com and someone types in "best scams" then that website will come up on the first page, if not the first result!!
From a personal perspective it is very important to be on the first page of search results as I very rarely go to the second page (or further) of search results - either on google or yahoo.  If I can't find what I want on the first page then I will redo my search with slightly different search terms in order to find what I want.

I personally use and recommend www.godaddy.com for purchasing your domain name, they are easy and simple to use.  I have needed to ask them one question which was answered within 12 hours (I say that because I sent the question from Australia and I don't expect them to be available 24 hours a day!

When at godaddy you will be able to see if a domain name is available, and if it is, then be able to reserve it or register it.

After registering the domain name you then need to find web hosting for it.  I have my own web server at home but realise that not everyone can run their own server from home.
Yahoo and godaddy do have deals on hosting your domain but there are a lot of other companies that provide web hosting.
The only tip I have for web hosts is this - DON'T go with a free one, pay the money!  A free web host will always have a catch, this is usually that the web host can put ads onto your web site - don't do this, if you don't mind ads on your web site then join an advertising broker and sell advertising space, you will make more money out of this method even after you have paid for your hosting fees.

Another option is to get a Yahoo domain which is part of the Yahoo network, unfortunately this means you have to run Yahoo ads on your website - which may go against what you are trying to achieve.

Once you have your website up and running you may wish to visit another web site of mine ( www.thrivingwebsite.com ) that teaches how to build a website.
